Process of Creation

I think it is so funny the process of creation. You start with an empty canvas, paint, glue, paper and some small thought in your head of how this is all going to come together. I thought that I would share with you a little incite into my brain while I am staring at all the ingredients to my art...... Rip- tear- glue- THINK, Rip-tear-glue- AH HA, Rip-tear-glue- THINK THINK, Rip-tear-glue- Oh I don't know, Rip- tear- glue- Yep that's it! ;) For the most part my creative process is always evolving, one day one way one day another. I think that keeps me going and not stuck with blank canvas syndrome or boredom, which as all artist know can be a true nightmare. I think mixing things up and exploring new techniques are what keep me on my toes. There is one thing that I can say never changes with me though and that is the use of music while I create. I love it! It puts me into another world, let's my mind escape. Something about listening to the art of the lyrics helps me along with my own art. Lately though I have been watching and listening to the peaceful show Sunrise Earth while I am working. Yesterday I had it on as I was in the studio and the sounds and the truly beautiful imagery of the show brought me into the most peaceful frame of mind and helped ease me into such a lovely piece of art. If you are not familiar with the show, it runs on Discovery HD at various times. I normally TiVo it so I have it around whenever I want it. :) If you love scenery and the sounds of nature please do check it out. It will fast become a favorite- trust me!

Visiting Artist

Well I guess he is not truly an artist, but he does give me tons of inspiration! ;) This is my funny, loving cutie pie Boston Terrier named Joe Beans. He has about 8000 nicknames and knows all of them but for the sake of space we will just stick with Joe. He just adores sitting on my desk and exploring what I have up there, what I am doing and getting to check out the backyard view from up high. My family and I love him more then words and I am sure that there are those out there who can relate. He is spoiled in every possible way and thinks he is a human. Another addition to our family is our wonderful boxer named Roscoe who also thinks he is human (go figure) and is very curious as to what his mom does with all those crafty items but he of course is just to big to fit on my desk. I know that Cesar Millan may not approve of my dogs and their humanly behavior but he doesn't have to know! ;) Dogs make life so much lighter and I just couldn't imagine my life without one.

The Little Fragment Studio, Studio!

I just thought I would share some pictures of my studio (below) with you. Oh how I wish that I could say that I have a big room that is dedicated solely to it, but alas my house is just to small for that. So as you may be able to see it is a shared space with my dining room. I really didn't want to totally take the dining room out of my house so I had to get creative with my limited space. I try to be highly organized and it has truly helped in fitting all my supplies into a corner of my dining room. Despite it's smaller size I do however have a lovely view of my backyard which is somewhat park-like. I can see ton's of birds hoping from branch to branch on my favorite tree which is wonderful! Looking at other blogs and websites it always amazes me to see how other artist fit their studio's into their homes and lives. It is a wonderful feeling to have an area to create in and maybe one day I will have a bigger space but for now this is as good as it gets!

Greeting Cards

Just wanted to share with you some new greeting and gift tag designs that will be available in the online shop (opening very soon). I must say that truly enjoy making cards, they can be so much fun and truly push creativity. I can just sit in my studio for hours thinking and creating new designs. Funny how fast time passes by when I am in my studio! :) Most of my cards have raised embellishments that give a unique texture and feel to them. If any of these cards spark your interest be sure to check back for the shop's grand opening announcement.

New Design- Birds of a feather

Here is one of my newest jewelry designs. This beauty will be posted on my online shop, which will be having a grand opening soon! I must say that I love the use of birds in my designs. They always invoke such a feeling of whimsy and fun. One of the keys to good designing is finding elements that make you feel happy while working with them. For me, it has taken a while but I have finally come into my own when it comes to creating. I found what I wanted to do and ran with it! :) Thanks for looking- check back again soon for more fun stuff.

Big Changes

Hello All and Welcome to the first post in The Little Fragment Studio Blog. Little Fragment Studio's (formally Bead and Bauble Designs) is in a major transition right now. Currently, I am having everything revamped. Logo, business cards, website and everything in between. Sometimes the hardest part of starting any business is finding an identity that matches who you are and what you represent. Over the last year of owning my own online shop I have personally experienced several name changes, logo changes and website changes. All of which can make you just want to lose your mind and give you the feeling of just giving up. This time however I brought in a professional and currently I am working with a truly wonderful designer by the name of Hope Wallace. She has done an excellent job for me so far and is currently working on my website. I am so excited about it! I will be back with more info, details of upcoming designs, shop grand opening dates, and just some good talk on life, love and art! Thanks for your time and check back again soon.
